Had lunch here today with the boyfriend after touring the USS Alabama. We were seated immediately outside. Our waitress was awesome. Our iced tea was very good (we ended up talking some togo) and their bread is amazing. You don't even want the dipping stuff because the bread is yummy alone. I ordered the shrimp plate and my boyfriend got the fish and chips. My food was great and his only complaint was the fish was a little bland. I ordered the green tomatoes to go and they were good too. I liked the decor and on a tourist-y note: their two cute little captive gators were a great touch. This seems like it would be a great hangout for locals and I'd love to come back some day.

A friend of mine suggested that I reserve a party room at Laps for my daughter's high school graduation. She told me that she had attended a baby shower there and the food and service was excellent! So I decided to call and reserve the room for my daughter's big day. I called Lap's to make the reservation. After being put on hold several time I finally was able to make the reservation. Mr. C. James the general manager actually took the reservation. I asked him was the room available he said yes so I reserved it for 1:00 noon May 19, 2014. I told him I would have 30 people attending and he said that was fine. The day of my daughter's graduation we arrived at Lap's only to find out that they had given my room away to someone that just walked in that day. I was highly disappointed. They were not apologetic but rather rude. I had people who flew to the graduation from California, Tennessee and Massachusetts as well as some that drove from Huntsville, AL. This was our first time eating at Laps and the first impression was terrible. The only consolations was the fact that our waitresses were excellent. They saw how upset we were and worked very hard to change the atmosphere. Although the food was very good I will give a 3 star rating because of the way we were treated initially.

I ate dinner there last night with my friend and our experience was dinner perfection. Brennan was our server and he did an outstanding job. Oysters Rockefeller were full of flavor, juicy, seasoned perfectly. I ordered crab cakes and they were a very nice size and full of crab. My friend ordered shrimp and grits. Shrimp were cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. Gouda Grits were not too overwhelmed with cheese and still full of flavor. The view was so amazing I could not stop looking around. I want the management to know that the service was impeccable and will most definitely recommend the place to everyone I know and suggest them to ask for Brennan. Thank you for an amazing evening.
