I'm guessing most are drawn here for the cheap burger deal, but I ordered a "cobb salad" that was basically just iceberg lettuce, a hardboiled egg, and a ton of bacon. Pretty disappointing.

American Burger has some of the best customer service that I have ever experienced! They have a wide assortment of delicious burgers and milkshakes. American Burger is, by far, my favorite restaurant in Monterey!

My first time to this place & I was super impressed. You get that old burger joint vibe & the burgers taste phenomenal!
They have good music playing & have live music on Friday or Saturday. The waitress was very polite & attentive. It's a definite must stop when passing through Monterey.
Oh, and if you check in on Yelp you get a free milkshake!

Love this place!!! THE BEST hamburger I have ever had, the Avacado bacon burger is outstanding. Even the french fries are seriously amazing. There was live music and the family members that work there are super sweet.

Funky small family burger place
burger for me, chicken for my wife. Food was fresh, very tasty, and quick.
Cute and upbeat young waitress.
I've always thought the biggest problem with tourist areas is the lack or reasonably priced (non-chain) places to eat. If you've shared that view, then give this place a try-you won't be disappointed.
