Lee is gone, I'll spend my tourist dollars elsewhere. Thanks for all the good times New Orleans.

Nothing really to see here anymore. Kinda silly to keep a column with no statue. Perhaps they'll put something in its place some day.

The monument of Gen. R. E. LEE was dedicated to the man, who served and was recognized as a US military veteran. The dedication had, although many uneducated POS think it was, nothing to do with the Confederate army, inwhich he served. First and foremost he was a general of the US army who, when his home state joined the Confederacy, followed his heart, just as many other brothers did. Once an American soldier, always an American soldier. After the Civil War, all military on both sides were given US VETERAN STATUS. So to all you uneducated people, GEN. ROBERT E. LEE, will always be an AMERICAN SOLDIER WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY PROUDLY.

Lee Circle is a small circular park with steps leading up to a statue of Gen. Lee on a tall pedestal.

It's usually surrounded by homeless people hanging out on the steps, or people sleeping. You usually cannot get close to the statue without being approached several times by people asking for money, booze, or trying to sell drugs.

It's a nice little area, except for the people hanging out there.
