Went here on a Friday just as they were opening with a party of 7. The hostess was not kind when we told her we had 7 and had not made a reservation. We got in within 30 min. The food was under whelming. We had the buffet and just not impressed. The gumbo was good. We were told peach cobbler for dessert but it ended up being bread pudding. Suggestion, go to Willie Mae's around the corner twice.

Delicious southern fare with a great atmosphere and wonderful service! Prepare to wait a bit, but it is worth it. The lunch buffet is a wonderful way to sample not only what the restaurant has to offer, but what the South has to offer. Southern classics like fried chicken, greens, crab rice, crawfish bake, gumbo, shrimp and lima beans, and bread pudding. It's all delicious!

I honestly cannot say what I love more about this place: the food or the history. Fact is, those things are impossibly intertwined, so my advice, just go to this wonderful establishment and love it for ALL that it is. And please, no more comments on the speed of the service! Count yourself blessed if it is slow, because you are getting a few extra moments in one of the richest experiences in the country. Dooky Chase's isn't some contrived theme restaurant. It's the real deal. And it's getting harder to find everyday. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Chase. Y'all made a difference.

This is one of the finest establishments in New Orleans! And Ms. Leah is most gracious enough to greet her customers after their meals. When I was there her husband (God Rest His Soul) gave me and my date a tour of the beautiful bar and let us sit there and told us the history of the place. I had the most memorable visit there. I tell everyone who is going to New Orleans to go there and eat! EVERYONE!! Love Love Love the Place and the Art work is fabulous.
This is one of the finest establishments in New Orleans! And Ms. Leah is most gracious enough to greet her customers after their meals. This was well worth the visit for the lunch buffet. Was the service fast? No, but this isn't the place you go when you are in a rush. Was the food the best I've ever had? No, but it was damn good. The salad, greens, broccoli, red beans & rice and peach cobbler were all good, but that isn't what I was there for.
2 servings of sausage, 2 slices of meatloaf and 4 or 5 pieces of that delicious fried chicken is what I went for and it was all just as good as I had hoped it would be.
Very nice experience, friendly servers, happy fellow diners... I look forward to going back in the next few months.
