Poor service, decent prices

I reserved a car a month in advance, but then when I got to the counter nobody was there. They had a sign telling me to go down to Dollar Rentals. Dollar couldn't honor the reservation I had made with Firefly, or the $55 down payment I had already made on insurance. Ended up costing me about $200 more than the one I had reserved. What's the point of making a reservation if you can't even pick it up?! Very disappointed with how Firefly has handled this so far. I'm not getting any refund or compensation for their error that ended up costing me.

Good experience there. Employes were kind and really helpful and absolutely not pushy concerning extra insurances you don't need as you can see quite often. Price was competitive and the car was clean and almost new.

Slow service, high fees, overall terrible experience. Go to Budget.

YOU GET TREATED LIKE A FOOL AND HAVE TO WAIT HOURS TILL YOUR CAR IS READY
I've used the Avis Oakland rental car center a couple of times before and it always was fine and I was satisfied, but today it was a disaster.
I arrived about 2h after the start of my prebooked rental period, expecting a car to be ready at that time at a rental car center of an international airport. Usually I got there in the evening, when it is really crowded with lots of people coming from the airport. This time I arrived in the early afternoon hoping to get processed faster. Two clerks have been at the counter, both talking (or rather arguing about something) to a party of two costumers.
I was waiting for some minutes (most of the other rental companies seemed free at this time) then one of the clerks (Amber) signaled me to come to the counter. Amber was very slowly processing my prebooked order (3 day rental/$100) being distracted with talking on the phone, talking to her coworker and doing all kinds of other things. Then she couldn't find the license no. on my drivers license. The manager had to come and find it for her. Then she wanted to see my passport. While I usually always had my passport on me for renting a car, I left it today, because I never needed it before to rent a car. Then she told me at least 3 times how lucky I was that I could rent a car today without showing her my passport. Then she made some stupid comments about my driver's license and said to her coworker to find "the smallest small car" for me.
It literally seemed like they wanted to give me the smallest or worst car they have. Her coworker went outside to indeed see, if it was there (which I never experienced before). He came back saying that there was some dust on this particular car (how is a car that is supposedly ready on a high-through put rental car center suddenly to dusty) and that it had to be cleaned. They already sent it to the car wash and Amber told me I had to wait for max. 10 minutes.
This whole conversation and the fact that I had to wait for a car left me already very annoyed.
The person, who checks the returned cars (Andrew) saw me waiting outside (which seems to be uncommon) and wanted to help me get a car. He was in disbelief, that I didn't get a car and had to wait for so long outside not knowing when my car would arrive. He went inside to the clerks 3 times trying to help me, but they send him away each time telling him the car would come soon, which it didn't.
Instead of ten minutes I had to wait more than half an hour standing outside looking at a parking lot FULL of vacant rental cars, no other costumers there. Waiting for a car that I booked for a time almost 3 hours earlier. I felt humiliated.
After about 45 minutes, the car arrived and it really was the worst car I've ever rented (it was really clean though, at least outside). With manual windows and no central locking system I felt like travelling back in time.
After losing almost an hour for the entire rental process I had to reschedule my day and almost missed my appointment later that day. It ruined the start of my weekend, left me frustrated for some time and I will avoid this Avis office in the future.
For some part I thought that it was a joke and they were filming me with a hidden camera for some show, but if they did, they didn't inform me about it. Inacceptable for a 3 day rental that I paid $100 for. If you have to talk to Amber, wait till someone else is free. AVOID Amber at any cost, if you don't want your day to get ruined. Maybe she comes from a special school and it was Ambers first day, but the service was just disgraceful.
