My wife had cardiac arrest on 9/18. They worked on her in Seattle for 28 minutes and had to shock her three times before bringing her to UW. She was released a week later and we were given a referral to see a cardiologist at Providence cardiology associates. Still a month later and we can't get in. Every time I call I'm told the referral is still "in process". I'm also told that because it was a "standard referral" it will be a long time before she can be seen. I'm told the squeeky wheel gets the grease. After our doctors office called and even the UW, to try to get things moving, still nothing. I don't understand why a heart patient who died three times and has a defibilator can't get in to see a local cardiologist. Now we are going back to UW. If this is an indication of the type of care patients receive at Providence cardiology associates then perhaps it's best we go elsewhere. I just really hope that others are given adequate service there and I would be really disappointed if the reason she wasn't referred in a timely way is because she is on Medicaid. I wouldn't expect that but one has to wonder why someone in her situation is never called back and we are only told "we're still working on it." Providence is a great Hospital network but I wonder about this particular cardiology office. Very disappointing.

The wait time has improved over the last 5 years, and contrary to other reviews -- as a patient in this clinic for that long, I have been very happy with the care I receive. The doctors are convenient once you are established because their nurses communicate well with them (even if it takes 24-48 hours turnaround time I always get an answer or adjustment based on my concerns). I started with Dr. Swan who was very very good at what he does, but now I like seeing Dr. Gretchen too because she is frank but honest and never dismissive. I would encourage people to give this office a chance.
PS - I was also sent to them as a pregnant, urgent case and I had the same experience as the other person who commented but the difference is that the cardiologist knew more about what was happening than my OB, and they had me on a holter monitor so they could collect crucial information that was later used to properly diagnose the issue. Sometimes patience is a virtue - even when it's difficult to have symptoms and no answers, I am certain beyond all belief if my life were in danger they would not have compromised me as a patient.

The nurses at this place are very inconsiderate. The doctors refuse to sign Death Certificates in a timely manor, leaving the families of their patients stuck in legal limbo. Shameful, just shameful.

I was referred to this office by my OBGYN (I'm 14 weeks pregnant) for tests to be done for my heart problems ASAP after a visit to the ER. During my time waiting for the referral to be received (my ob sent over info and called numerous times) I had another visit to the ER. My ER Doctor also forwarded the same orders for me to be seen ASAP. I got a monitor placed ASAP but was told I didn't need the echo or consultation with the cardiologist immediately (even though that was documented). I returned to my OBGYN for post ER visit to have my follow up and he told me that was untrue and that I did need this all done immediately... Got a call from providence today to schedule.. 2 WEEKS OUT!! That doesn't seem immediate to me? I found another cardiologist who will be getting me in right away! Thankfully!! Not worth risking my own life or my unborn child for a 2 week wait on "immediate/ASAP"!!
