STAY AWAY FROM THE UPENN RESIDENT PROGRAM. I went here many years ago. A therapist friend of mine warned me to stay away from the UPENN Resident program. I should have listened to her. I had a resident by the name of Dr. Keira Chism. She put me on LITHIUM which made me feel like a ZOMBIE. She barely took any time to diagnose me. Then she prescribed Zyprexa.
The staff gave me someone else's medical records by mistake and the doctor took a week to return my calls because the doctors are overloaded here. Dr. Chism even told me she is so busy teaching and has too many patients. She said she was so stressed out from all the work.
I do not blame Dr. Chism for the misdiagnosis. I blame the attending doctor who directed her. I went to a PhD doctor off insurance who said I had an eating disorder and panic attacks. I remember telling Dr. Chism I had knots in my stomach. She also told me "It's not your fault. You are Bipolar" when I said I had an argument with my mother. Ridiculous.
I made sure I told this doctor about my vegan diet and my mother did as well on the phone. My FAMILY IS FURIOUS WITH THIS PLACE. I can't believe I wasted my $25 copays to go here. They would not accept Aetna.
Everyone in the waiting room was diagnosed Bipolar or Depression which was a red flag to me.
WHEN YOU SEE A PSYCHIATRIST BRING A RECORDER IN THE ROOM AND GET THEIR PERMISSION ON THE TAPE. The mental health field is so subjective they can say anything they want.
