Went here on a trip with my friends and the place was fantastic! Delicious food ( I got the poached eggs with potatoes), simple clean and cute atmosphere, a kind waitstaff and the most interesting host Tina ( we loved talking to her as she sat us). Definitely a memorable part of our trip. Also the coffee was delicious!

While Frieda is better defined by what it is not, that makes for a complicated review. The most important things to know are that the food is spectacular, service is friendly and responsive, and it has a very open, laid back, and community themed environment. Also you must absolutely try the orange almond cake.

Walked into the place to get a treat and wanted to check out the pastry selection. My friend and I walked up to the display and I felt someone aggressively hit my arm to get my attention . The little old woman with fiery orange hair rudely approached me and said “ what are you doing” I told her I was asking the waiter a question and she answered “ Why didn’t you ask me! I was standing right there !!!” . It was an extremely scary greeting, the woman had made us feel very unwelcome and was insanely rude . All we wanted to do was check out the snacks on display, and she was terrifying and thought it was ok to put her hands on me?? She should really be working at eastern state penn.

Serene and delicious breakfast experience! Quiet, calm, minimalist, atmosphere with almost Zen-like service. I loved that aspect of Frieda's restaurant philosophy! The food is sublime. We had the Mushroom Toast with Poached Eggs and I've never had a more delicious breakfast entree in my life. It is served on a toasted bread pudding! Also had a Banana Brioche French Toast. Warning: portions are very large! The next time I'm in Philly, I will immediately Uber to Frieda's for breakfast.

It's a cute place with a good mission. It seemed pretty empty mid-morning on a weekday, although there as a steady stream of takeout customers. They're not super fast with coffees. The latte was very good, pretty strong, not overly milky like they often are. The patties were pretty good. The carrot cake was delicious and fresh, the frosting was too bland for my taste, more plain vanilla than cream cheesy. I also tried a decent banana twist thing. They also do some prepared foods. It's in an unmark d building and is a nice, bright, simply decorated space.
