You'll definitely be intrigued when you see the hundreds of pieces of various deadly weapons, permanently fused into the base of what appears to be an otherwise happy, stylized figure, rising out from the pavement here at the 'Release the Fear' sculpture, located at the Roosevelt Ave. & Central Ave. lightrail station. Revolver cylinders, revolver and semi-auto handgun frames, rifle barrels, shotgun barrels, magazines, trigger housings, upper receivers, lower receivers, knives, etc. are ALL clearly visible!

The 'Release the Fear' sculpture, was erected at this lightrail station in 2005, by local Phoenix artist, Robert John Miley. It's constructed of 8 1/2 tons of metal total (8,000 lbs. of that 8 1/2 tons, being sourced from 'weapons used in violent acts, collected throughout Arizona', according to the inscription!).

Miley apparently spent 10 years finding sponsors/sources for his building materials, envisioning this sculpture as a 'Phoenix, rising from the ashes'. The funders' names are inscribed on irregular stone slabs, located on all four sides of the sculpture. It's a VERY neat, and thought-provoking piece of artwork - definitely worth a 5-star rating!

The weather's been perfect lately, so, come down and check it out!
