The food is average, but the service is terrible. At the end of the meal, the lady asked me with a discriminating look “do you know what the tip is?” Then she told me it is 15% and left. If they want a fixed amount (which is the purpose of tipping), just put it on the bill, at least saving me the time of calculating. In the past I always give 18% and round up, and for this meal I diligently calculated a exact 15%. She literally looked at the bill, saying “this is no... oh ok” before we left the table. Not going back anymore

Lulu's is an excellent restaurant. The food is excellent, the place is an institution, pls don't expect a 5 star restaurant. Expect really good food, in a restaurant that could use freshen up a little. For all of the yrs. we've gone to Lulu's the interior hadn't changed much. It's worth the visit, as I mentioned the food is excellent!

Huge servings, but unimpressive service, a messy atmosphere, and uninspired food. I had the saddest and blandest Ma Po Tofu of my life. Don't go for good food, go for okay food in big portions.

We've been here many times, and never really had a problem. Totally different this time. The server was very nice and helpful. We ordered our meals, and after about 10 minutes after my husband received his, I still hadn't gotten my shrimp lo mein. The server said they were short staffed in the back, but I didn't see other people having to wait for food. When it finally arrived, it was dissapointing. Not much on the plate, and the flavor was so so. We noticed other plate orders were piled high with food, as well as bowls. I don't eat much, and have always taken left overs home, not so this time. My husband got his bubble drink free.

Been going here for years, food is consistently good, service is normally fine but I don't usually go when they are super busy. Portions are often big enough to take some home. Many different options, I like to try new things that I don't see at my neighborhood place. I look forward to visiting when I am in Oakland!
