Now from A 19-year-old with PTSD this place is no place for people that do NOT want pity and attention and drugs. I am emotional, and if I had the slightest anxiety I was givin Clonopin or some kind of benzo. Absolutely no therapist there to talk to, NOBODY. It is the farthest thing from therapeutic for anybody that needs a quiet, therapeutic, caring environment.
I only went through this whole entire process to find some medication and a new psychiatrist! No suicidel ideation or tendencies.
This place is a total ass. Unless you're about to kill yourself or withdrawing from drugs, don't come here because youll leave ashamed and embarrassed.
I Literally Was only in here for two days.
Thank Christ. I left with no medication, and the worlds worst psychiatrist. Thank you Spring Harbor for absolutely wasting my time and for nothing.
I feel embarrassed by even making this comment on Google, but in my hopes somebody will read this and relate and then they will now this place is NOT for them.

Their 'medicine' Made my brother lose eyesight, and now his eyes are messed up - hes got eye syndrome now called VS, and other eye problems just after taking their meds
He can no longer go outside without sunglasses or see well/clear at all at any time any place now. Static vision with floaters sensitivity to light color blindness (nobigdeal) and other eye problems such as shadows (type of floater) They started to take shape (his problem) when he was first taking the meds inside spring harbor.
Just a week on meds and he could not go outside with his eyes.
He can no longer read as a result. Etc.
doctors were also forcing him to do a disability sheet when he did not want to do disability, thank god when they sent the forms out they were 'lost' somehow and never went through.
Very Surprised he chose not to sue, he is probably too scared. Its Too bad their treatment involves meds and theres no way around that.
Some staff were good, some bad, no big deal. Kudos to the ones trying to help others and screw those who are doing it for a career. At least He is not 110% blind.

My daughter has been there multiple times and every time I have issues calling there to speak with her. I'm on hold for over thirty minutes at times. This is absurd!!!! I am in a different state and this makes things so difficult!!! They need to be properly staffed. If they are like this to people trying to call it raised questions on how they are properly staffed for those that are inpatients there... maybe I should start a blog on how bad the mental health care is not just in Maine but everywhere!!!!!

I was there for 7 days. It is a very well maintained environment. I was in the Northwest Unit. The staff were courteous and made it a nice place to be. I became friends with quite a few people. The OT and DBT groups were very helpful. I have recovered and become a lot better from staying there. Overall my stay at Spring Harbor Hospital was very pleasant.

I found that if you are ready, or in a place to know you Need help To heal, or start this process. You can take a lot away from the educated staff at Spring Harbor. Like anywhere, there are some little oddities, but over all I felt heard, I felt I was treated very therapeutically. My situation is going to be different from anyone else's experience. But, For me it was a good place to be.
Thank you,
JS
