Food was fabulous! I had a plate with three items from the vegetarian list -- as gratin cauliflower, squash, and pear salad. My husband had the fried chicken. I tasted his mashed potatoes and collard greens--both scrumptious! Service was excellent! The beer the waiter selected based on my husband's preferences was spot on!

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Not as good as the Delta cafe of the 90's. And early ots. It wasn't terrible. Very large portions and the service was good. (Much better then the delta) But still overall not worth the huge wait times IMO.

The food was great with great staffing, but the wait was 2 hours. However I love that they had outdoors for dog-owner like me who took their pup for travel. We had Fried Chicken & Waffle as well as Shrimp & Grit.

The pinnacle of Portland breakfast. Most people come here for the fried chicken and waffle, and with good reason. The one piece for the fried chicken and waffle should be enough for most people, but there are options for two or three pieces (which, in my opinion, is more appropriate for sharing in terms of portion size). In my opinion, the fried chicken and waffle at Screen Doors blows away Roscoe's Chicken and Waffle. Not only is the chicken at Screen Door excellent, but I was surprised at how good the waffles were. I didn't get a "dry" sensation with the waffles, and they might have been the best waffles I've ever had in my life. I also tried the Glazed Breakfast Hushpuppies, but wasn't impressed. There's supposed to be a bacon flavor to it, but I didn't really notice it. If I had to choose another starter, I might have gone with the Screen Door Praline Bacon (which looked amazing, but did not get to try). I sat in the bar area, and staff here is great. Be prepared to brave the long lines, though it appears that people dining solo (like me) should be able to find a seat at the bar relatively easily. If you can only make it to one breakfast spot in Portland, make this the one!

Friendly atmosphere. I got to this place twenty minutes before they opened, and there were already people lining up. And I'd say it was worth the wait. The chicken and waffles I ordered was not only impressive to my taste buds, but also to my eyes. Two giant pieces of beautifully fried chicken stacked on top of a golden waffle, and impaled with a knife. Make sure you take a picture before you dig in. It looks just as good as it tastes.
