Our visit to Mother's was a serendipitous mistake -- we had imaginations of visiting a very famous, very old & historic restaurant, but (without a reservation), that was not to happen. No matter... this place is brilliant! I had a certain amount of trepidation arriving during happy hour with two children, but the food was perfect, the staff was amazing: attentive, accommodating, helpful and very available. We would have loved to explore the dinner menu, but we had a flight to catch, so the lounge happy hour menu was our option and joyously, it did not disappoint. We had second rounds of several dishes & all of it was very pleasing, especially the sweets! They have lovely drinks for the adults too & make sure to check out the clever tshirts. When we return to Portland, you can bet we will be back... & we will time it to take advantage of the dinner menu for sure.

This is a great place to get an alcoholic beverage and breakfast or coffee as they have an espresso machine at the bar. The goat cheese scramble and Bloody Mary were amazing. The bloody Mary was one of the better ones I had in the area. The selection had some great alternatives to your traditional breakfast. The salmon hash was pretty good as well. The staff was really friendly and the bartender had some good info which was nice since we were travelling from out of town.

Brunch on a Sunday was worth the wait. The signature cocktails and chef specials delighted everyone in our party. Although the place was packed it wasn't too loud for conversation and the wait staff was always available and helpful.

A perfect venue for a Sunday morning breakfast. The place is huge yet still very homely and cosy. The service was impeccable and the staff were so friendly and helpful. And to top it off the food was delicious. A must for any visitors and breakfast lovers.

In A Nutshell:

-Mother's Bistro & Bar is a must-go if you are seeking some good ole' American breakfast.
-Please be advised that there will probably be about an hour long wait, so try to get there early or have someone wait in line while you find parking.
-The restaurant is in a historic office building that is divided into two sections.
-The section on the left has more open space, sunlight & seating; the section on the right was more enclosed w/ dimly light & less seats.
-The service once you sit down is very attentive.
-The menu is fairly expansive & they offer more than just breakfast, but also, lunch, dinner, desserts & wine.
-The Wild Salmon Hash I ordered was so so good, the salmon tasted like it came out of the Columbia River & the hash was chunky & delicious.
-My wife ordered the Stuffed Frittata, which is an open-faced omelet w/ bacon, cheddar cheese & potatoes, this was definitely another stand-out dish!

Overall, the mimosa's are very strong, so one should suit you well while you enjoy the lively vibe & great breakfast at Mother's.
