This is, by far, one of my favorite bars in Portland. Great bartenders, and good beer food. It is 1984 themed, though I didn’t notice until I’d been there a bunch of times. That being said, I noticed a million well hidden references to the book once I realized, which is great. Interesting beer list too!

Super funky bar with an interesting food menu (lots of spatzl) that makes me want to return for dinner. The cocktails are amazing, especially the "new fashioned."

Really like the vintage, war-torn kind of look to this place. The TVs in particular were really cool (playing old videos), and I heard that the owner custom built housings for them that look like old, wood-paneled, rounded-edge screens. The lights and fixtures add to the dimly-lit scene, and it almost has a speak-easy vibe to it. I enjoyed the custom cocktail menu, and though I didn't try any of their food, that menu looked intriguing as well. I would like to come back and see what else this place has to offer!

Quirky bar that decor wise, so I'm told, is loosely modeled on Orwell's 1984. Had a small but decent beer selection. Didn't try the food. Server was nice, but can't say I'm a fan of having to go up to the bar to order my drinks (everyone funnelled to one server).
