I love this place. I always eat at the bar around the fireplace. Great pizza and spaghetti and meatballs.

I️ do not recommend this place for anyone visiting Portland for the food. The ambiance is pretty nice in some parts of the restaurant, but the food is mediocre. I had a small pizza that looked and tasted like one of those off-brand home-baked oven pizzas (I️ would say like a digiorno or tombstone but I️ actually like those) with tomato slices added after the pepperoni pizza was baked, so they were lukewarm and overwhelming—had to remove them. My sister had spaghetti and garlic bread that was fine. I️t seems like a great place to have a meal with your family if you live nearby. But don’t go out of your way to come here. As visitors from Colorado, we felt like we wasted a Portland meal.

Love love love this place! (grew up down the street so I am biased). Pizza is great and even better the next day. The rosemary chicken provolone ravioli is delicious! Really stepped up its game when the daughter took over and remodeled, added happy hour and outdoor seating. Still enjoy going with the whole family. Classic NE favorite.

Almalfi's is a quaint little place with very good pizza and excellent Carbonara.
Their service is impolite at best. They are also a bit over priced. A $5 add on of Italian sausage for the spaghetti gets you only 1 sausage. The only thing Caesar about the Caesar salad, is the Romaine lettuce they use. The dressing is lacking, and non-descript. Last and worst, is they serve RC cola, which is the worst soda ever....watered down cola which always tastes flat.
If they could fix the service, salad and soda, and come into the 2000's they'd earn 5 stars from me.

Amalfi's serves decent Italian food and has a good wine selection, but they are definitely overpriced.
The service is good with friendly wait staff that knows what they're doing. The wine is good, but expensive, house red was $9 a glass. The food was fairly standard Italian, and certainly nothing bad, but you could get comparable food at Pastini for at least a few bucks less.
You seem to be paying extra for the reputation and decor which I can do without. They seem to be quite family's friendly, which is good if you are a family, but can make things quite noisy for the rest of the patrons.
It seems like a good place to take a date for a fancy dinner without the fancy price, but without the fancy food, though it does have a fancy feel.
