Today (8/2/17) had my cleaning with Gwen, hygienist. She was excellent! She is very calming (I tend to be nervous) explains everything as she goes along. When giving some ways you can improve dental hygiene always follows up with something positive that you've done. Very professional, and follows all hygiene when completing the cleaning. Gwen is the best.... for me.

I am stunned to read a few bad reviews about this practice, and wonder if the comments were placed there by competitors. I see Dr. Riotto and he has been caring, compassionate and professional as is every staff member I have interacted with. I've had several assorted hygienists assigned to me and I was impressed with each and every one of them. Dr. Riotto is a perfectionist in the best way. I have needed a few root canals and all were pain free and my teeth look great. I had a chipped front tooth repaired and it looks perfect. PERFECT!

I want to thank Dr. Riotto for his amazingly fast and cordial response to my emergency inquiry on behalf of my son, Nick. Nick is a sophomore in high school, attending a summer course at Brown University. He has suddenly developed a sensitivity in a molar that he thinks could be a cavity, and he contacted me because he is worried about embarking on a 5 week sailing course in the Virgin Islands that starts on Friday. After speaking with his dentist here in San Francisco, I started calling the dentists listed on the Brown University website, to see if anyone might be able to work Nick into the daily schedule and determine whether any action needs to be taken now, rather than in August. Dr. Riotto called me back within a half hour, and was enormously helpful.

Please feel free to use this “review” in any of your patient materials. I am a very grateful parent!

Scary, terrible. The worst kind of dental office. Check their Yelp reviews, you'll see what I mean. The summary: they care more about "smile improvement" than dental health because there is more money to be made in cosmetic improvements, and they will go to great lengths to show you how imperfect your smile is. You may go in for teeth cleaning, but dollars-to-donuts they'll try and sell you some advanced, expensive and unnecessary dental work that may leave your mouth less healthy than before.
I've always had nearly perfect teeth - no cavities, no braces, nothing. Chalk it up to good genetics, diligence about brushing/flossing and avoiding soft drinks. Which made every prior visit to previous dentists short and sweet, but made my visit to Angel Street Dental Associates very strange.
First, they spend a tremendous amount of time showing you how ugly and unaligned your teeth are. No other dentist has ever done more than 4 x-ray images of my teeth - they literally did over a dozen, which was completely unnecessary. Then they used a painful contraption to pry open my jaws and take photos of all my teeth - again, I've never had this done & didn't ask for it. And then just the generally humiliating "smile!" request so they could take photos of me smiling from different directions. All of this before I saw an actual dentist.
The dentist spent the next half hour going through all the x-rays and photos looking for every excuse to find some extra work to do. She seemed disappointed that I really didn't need any corrective work to straighten my teeth. But this is an actual statement: "HHmmmm, you've got a little bit of an overbite.... but it's kinda cute, so I'll let you keep it." REALLY!
She also said that my gums were receding because I was grinding my teeth in my sleep and I would need skin grafts soon - and that I should get a custom mouth-guard immediately to prevent further damage from teeth grinding. Both of these claims were later debunked by my previous dentist who I called and the next dentist I saw in Providence. (No, my gums hadn't been receding because, no, I wasn't grinding my teeth, and no, I didn't need a $500 piece of plastic that wasn't covered by insurance)
So, in conclusion, do not go here. There are plenty of other good dentists who don't act like used car salesmen.

Very professional staff; on-time appointments. Dr. DePetrillo is a pleasure to work with.
