Trendy spot in the heart of downtown Providence. Cool, friendly staff, decent food selection, and they used to have a German beer hall (I was really looking forward to) but it has been closed. Competitive pricing compared to the other hotels in the area!

Great location and a beautiful hotel. The room was a decent size and was quite quirky. I loved it and will stay again.

This isn't the kind of hotel I'd normally book for a business trip but it was the only place with an available room for my last minute trip on a week when the whole town was apparently swamped with people for a big event at the nearby convention center.
My first impression was how quirky the decor was, but the history and charm of the old building renovated to a modern hotel is quite charming.
The king bed was very comfortable and the 4th floor room very spacious. An issue I have with boutique hotels like this though is that you pay a decent amount for a really nice room and they don't have simple amenities like a small fridge in the room....something that's standard in most chain hotels from cheap to plush. Having bought a growler at a nearby brewery, it would have been great to be able to put it in a fridge until I checked out.
The only other issue I had was the lack of hot water for my shower on the first day. That wasn't a problem the next morning.
Otherwise, my stay was very pleasant and the charm of the place grew on me.
The ancient elevator is downright scary and somewhat unreliable so I usually resorted to the stairs most of my stay.
The valet service for parking isn't cheap but as long as you utilize it during their normal hours, it's pretty convenient and fast. Before or after hours....not so much when the employee working the front desk has to go get it for you from the nearby parking garage (not optional since they have your keys), and that took some time since the number you text ahead of time went to a phone the employee apparently wasn't monitoring.
On the plus side....the German restaurant downstairs (actually a separate business), was excellent and the location of the hotel is walking distance to so many great locations downtown that a taxi wasn't even necessary.

Wonderful, unique hotel. Very trendy and hipster feel. Retro light fittings and amazing old elevator. Very helpful reception staff who gave recommendations for places to get a cocktail and then a place for dinner. Both of which were exactly what we were looking for. Definitely recommend this hotel!

Love this place. So glad I found it. I was in town for a conference, and one hotel gave a "special rate" for conference attendees. I chose the Dean because I prefer locally-owned places with personality.
Check-in was great. Coffee shop, bar, and restaurant were all great. I slept very well.
Two small issues that I overlooked: no fridge in the room, and not exactly soundproof rooms. Still, I would come back here without question.
