I know the administrator here, and he is an excellent, caring manager. The staff thrives under his direction, and the quality of care is great.

I have worked with Orem Rehab for four years. I work in home health and hospice. We have had many patients here over the years and they are always well cared for by the staff. We have many hospice patients who live at home and have chosen Orem Rehab for their respite stays on repeated occasions.

Orem is a beautiful facility and has tremendous staff that love and care for those they serve. I have been in this building a lot can I can honestly say that you can feel the difference when you talk with the team. They are GREAT!

A family member was treated at this facility. The healing garden was a nice feature of the facility. Some nurses showed care and concern for her during her stay. Of all of the CNAs that attended the member, very few would actually take time to go beyond the minimum required to make sure that the family member was comfortable and if she had further needs. The therapy was very good when it occurred. Too many times therapists found her resting and rather than wake her up and take her or reschedule a time, they would just let her sleep. I requested a recliner to stay with her at nights. The recliner that was brought to the room was broken. It took at facility several days to find another one after reporting the problem. I mentioned to the Administrator a problem of the facility not being locked up at night. After the mention, the facility was locked for 2 nights and then would only find it locked sporadically. Response times for a CNA or a nurse or respond would average between 15 & 20 minutes. I specifically requested that CNAs check in on her during the night and left her door ajar to remind them. In spite of sleeping in the room and being a light sleeper, I never felt anyone enter or exit during the night except around shift change at 6 a.m. On few occasions were efforts offered to help the member with personal hygiene and grooming in the morning unless I was lucky enough to catch a CNA entering the room and specifically request it. The personal hygiene didn't happen at night either unless a family member reminded her and assisted. Several times I mentioned to the staff members the family member lactose intolerance and diabetes issues. The kitchen still sent food items with heavy sugar content--syrup for pancakes, desserts--and milk content--ice cream, puddings, etc. Few low sugar or sugar free options were offered on the menu. During the stay, the menu was changed to a light lunch--basically sandwiches made on white bread with a piece of meat and cheese--nothing else. For the majority of the residents who are older, what a nutritional disaster! Over and over I heard CNAs asking other CNAs how to transfer the family member from the bed to a wheelchair. Many times I had to step in to show them how. Many times I requested to speak directly to the attending physician. I would be told that the facility did not have his phone number or only the nurses could speak with him. Why was I kept from speaking with the physician who was attending the family member to get feedback on treatment and progress? The physician didn't even bother to reach out to me just prior to the discharge either for transition back to the regular attending physician. As final big issue, the order for the Home Health Care occurred but somehow got cancelled due to changed discharge dates. The Rehab Social Worker told us that home therapy would begin the day after her arrival home. After several days of not seeing anyone, we contacted the Rehab Center. They mentioned they had done the order and it was our responsibility to do any follow up. Overall, very disappointed.
