Deep South is a cool pregame spot for RedHat shows as it seems to be the closest bar to the venue. We hit this place up before every show. The bartenders are great and there are always drink specials. It's sort of a dive but still a cool place to hang out and listen to live music.

This is one of the best places in Raleigh for live music. They support a wide variety of performers, and rarely fall into the trap of the "tribute" bands, which has been a cancer on the local scene for a long time. Great place to play, great place to watch music. Great staff, too!

Set your expectations accordingly and this is a great place. Looking for a dive bar, live music, friendly bar staff, and a little grunge? This is where you find it. Leave suit and tie in the car.
