Huge lack of professionalism among nurses in in my opinion. Mother is to have an endoscopic biopsy this morning. The registration nurses were quick and professional. In the endoscopy unit, however, I have seen 8 nurses. Three stood for at least 20 minutes right by our room talking about their salaries and bonuses. Hello! Patients resting!!!! Two of the nurses had unnatural hair color, one had giant pink streaks in her hair. They were talking about what shoes they wanted to buy, buying sparklers, trips...and my mother was trying to rest. Just disappointed with the total lack of professionalism in that unit. Overall care, however was excellent. The anesthesiologist and doctor were excellent. The nurse anesthetist was very kind and made mother feel comfortable. I would recommend this hospital but I hope the nurses are more aware of how they are perceived by their customers.

I was in Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC in late August 2017 for a replacement for my pacemaker and adjustments to the way it was wired to my heart. Several weeks later I returned to my cardiologist office for the removal of the staples that held the incision to removed the staples.

I had a previous operation at Rex several years before and remembered that when the staples were removed from that operation the nurse overlooked three of them and I 'found' them later when washing my head after the removal when I was showering. I returned to the doctors office and the same nurse removed the newly 'found' staples.

I thought about it afterwards and realized that in their standard procedures in the OR they do not count the number of staples they put in you, and consequently, the do not know how many to remove from you!

Well, that's what happened to me again! That's two strikes. I asked the nurse who removed the staples from my chest at the cardiologist office, this time, how many staples she was suppose go remove. and she didn't know!

A few days ago I found another staple still in my chest and thought, 'Oh no! I can't believe it!' So I already had an appointment with my cardiologist today and pointed this out to him and he quickly sent in a nurse who looked carefully, and removed the last staple, I hope.

I would strongly advise Rex Hospital to add to their basic OR PROCEDURES TO COUNT THE NUMBER OF STAPLES THEN THE OPERATING TEAM PUTS THEM IN, SO THE NURSE WHOSE JOB IT IS TO REMOVE THEM KNOWS HOW MANY THERE ARE SO HE OR SHE GET ALL OF THEM OUT

I Hope that this makes sense is helpful to Rex,, other surgeons and other patients in the future.

Saved my Dad's life a few years back by providing him quick and attentive care. Dedicated nurses helped my Dad and I in the ICU and gave him all the necessary tools (dietitian, PT, etc.) to bring him home. Any other time we have been here we have had incredibly friendly and timely service. After all that they took nearly $60,000 off of our bill because we lacked insurance.

No compassion in my opinion. How can you look someone in the face that's sick and waiting for 5 hrs and lie continuously. The night shift nurses and doctors working 7p -7a on 8/21 mislead me. The doc was nice but every hour for 3+ hours (after getting a room-2hr wait) I was advised 1 more minute. The nurse apologized for misleading me then sent me back to my room for an additional hour. It makes people like Taylor and Caroline (beautiful souls) look bad. It would have been nice to be advised a realistic time. I know it must be difficult to advise of a precise time but 1 min to 2.5 hours seems ridiculous. Send out prayers for those that have to go to the emergency room.

I would have given the hospital 5 stars, but the nurse who helped deliver my baby, as well as the on call Dr. were pretty rude. They seemed more concerned about my previous smoking habits than the current situation. After that everything was great. All of the nurses in after delivery unit are so nice. One stands out in mind, Wendy. If you ever see this, thanks so much for making my stay at the hospital a pleasant one! Great staff, and the hospital food is actually a high light, very good food! Minus the couple bad apples along the way, thanks Rex for making stay a pretty good one.
