My grandmother is a patient at this dermatology office and I frequently accompany her to her appointments. Usually when we come in we are treated very well by the the nurses and our doctors. We switch between Dr. Eric Challgren and Tracey Cloninger and we love them both very much and recommend them to everyone we know. We even love the new office and how nice everything looks. My wife, sisters, and mother love the cosmetic side so there is something to love at this office for every member of our family. Our ONLY complaint is with the front office staff. The "ladies" at the counter when we checked in were very rude with my grandmother because she was signing the wrong line apparently on the sign-in sheet. It seemed as though they were immediately bothered by our presence, they barked orders at us, and seemed visibly upset. To be fair, one of them was smiling, although it did not seem genuine as we could hear all three of them talking bad about my us and laughing hysterically as we were walking away. I was amazed that they were this bold. I understand that joking around makes the work day go by faster for some people but I do not think there is ever an excuse to belittle your patients or make fun of them, especially older patients, like really? My grandmother is in her 80's and is the sweetest woman anyone could hope to meet. It's a good thing she didn't hear them or else I'm sure her feelings would have been hurt. Normally when we come the employees at the front counter are somewhat pleasant but this last time that was not the case. As disrespectful as this was it did not seem worthy of getting a manager as we are easy going people and we love our doctors so we were not going to let that ruin our experience. Every single time we come, after seeing our amazing doctors, we dread checking out. There are usually two "ladies" that sit there and while the are both awful, one is slightly less awful than the other which is the best we can hope for. They are both rude, impatient, and not at all helpful. The employee with the worse attitude of the two is the older woman with the northern accent, although the younger woman is not much better. I understand the importance of speed in regards to being effective at work but in a customer service position how you treat the patients is FAR more important than speed. We have never been treated so badly by a place that wanted our money as we have by these two employees, specifically the woman with the northern accent. Which makes us so sad because this is literally the ONLY downside to this office. And the doctors are so great we are still giving them 4 stars as we feel a 3 star rating would not accurately reflect the medical treatment patients would receive here and we don't want to mislead anyone. The only problem at this office (and the reason for the missing star rating) is two or three employees up front that are just so rude it is unreal. And the last thing I would like to add is a personal comment from my grandmother and myself. My grandmother made me PROMISE that I would get on Google, Yelp, and any other site we had access to and leave a review about the gentleman that checked us out as we were leaving our last visit. This young man was so polite and helpful it honestly caught us off guard as we were expecting the nasty treatment that we normally receive at this point in the process. It was such a relief. His name was Greg, and I know that not because of his name tag but because he politely introduced himself to my grandmother and I after she said she had not seen him before. He was warm and incredibly accommodating. I don't know how long this young man has been working at your office but he deserves a raise as he is a gift from God in that department. My grandmother is getting older and I don't know how much longer we will able to enjoy our time together. Going to doctor's appointments is basically all we do anymore and this is the kind of experience we want when we come. Please let him know we appreciate him. Thank you and God Bless.

One of the most unpleasant medical experiences that I have had in a LONG time was performed at Southern Dermatology. My 1st visit about a month ago was to get a diagnosis of what these 2 large bumps were in the back of my head. I was examined by Dr. Laura Briley and told they were cysts, I was given a few options as treatment and I chose to have cortisone injections. I was prescribed antibiotics & advised to return in 1 month if the problem persists. The problem still persists after the meds and a month later. I saw Dr. Briley for a second appointment , on 10/ 17 explaining that there was not much improvement and that the largest cyst was sore and tender to the touch.
We both agreed that it would be beneficial for me to have the cores removed. Before the actual procedure I thought the outside area would be numbed ( NOT ) I was stuck with a needle over and over and pressure applied , causing excruciating pain. So much pain that I had to stop the procedure. Her apologies and invitation to return fell on deaf ears, especially after such a painful ordeal ! The painful cyst was covered with vaseline , a second round of antibiotics prescribed and I was sent on my way. But not before paying my copay. I don't know if this is the norm for this type of procedure but if it is, something needs to change. It was like having a tooth pulled without any numbing medicine. This was an HORRIBLE, PAINFUL experience !!!!!
NO ONE could have endured this type of pain !
We go to our physicians to have our issues addressed, not have new ones created. Needless to say I will never be returning !
I've had all the torture that I can handle for a long long time !!

Prepare to be seen about an hour AFTERNOON your appointment time. Every time I've visited the office this has been the case which is absolutely ridiculous. And all that waiting to spend about 3 minutes with the doctor. They have 0 respect for anyone's time. Definitely finding a new dermatologist.

I have gone to Southern Dermatology for basal cell carcinoma concerns but more recently aesthetic procedures. My experience with Dr. Wilmoth has always been wonderful. He is compassionate, attentive and skilled. When I had my basal cell carcinoma removed from my nose, he demonstrated a concern to be thorough but also mindful of my vanities. Since then I have come in for fillers and botox and he continues to be warm and engaging. The staff is also very upbeat and positive. Thank you for this practice which truly cares.
