This evening I got a takeout fish dinner from Mayflower. When I got home and tried to eat it I discovered that there was a large amount of grease in the French fries and hush puppies. The cat fish tasted rancid and the popcorn shrimp were very hard. It appears that this whole meal was reheated by dipping it in the hot frying grease again after it had been previously cooked. Reheating in this manner causes the food to soak up more grease than if it had been freshly fried. This is probably why it only took 4 minutes from the time I placed my order to the time it was ready. Usually the quality of food served is fair to okay but never grease until now. Late evening must not the best time to get takeout at the Capital Blvd. location. If this is standard practice of the restaurant to make sure no food is wasted maybe they should look at the cost of non repeat customers when served a meal that's not eatable.

The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. The look of the place left a lot to be desired. The take out section was full of handwritten signs. The waiting area is quick to fill up. I do like the fact they show you your food before you pay for it to make sure it is correct.

First time I ever had jumbo shrimp and baked potatoes that were cold and catfish that was hot. Must be a completely different cooking staff at night. Been there during the day much better for the lunch crowd. Very disappointed. On top of that, it cost almost twice as much. The cashier didn't even ask me how was my meal.
What ever happened to quality and a good meal. Not here. Won't be back

Wife and I went to Red Lobster off Wake Forest rd in Raleigh this past Tuesday. My wife, who is disabled, sat on the bench while I stood in clear view of the bartender who never spoke to us or even acknowledged us even though she looked right at me. We were the only party waiting in the lobby. After almost 15 minutes of waiting we left and came to Mayflower. As we were getting out of the car a server was getting out of his car and he welcomed us to Mayflower. As we approached the door the hostess opened the door for us and welcomed us then held the second door open for my wife. As soon as we entered another waitress welcomed us and immediately seated us and within seconds brought us our drinks. Our waitress then took our order cheerfully, all within 5 minutes of entering the building. The food was delicious and all The employees are helpful and friendly.

We had lunch there. I could have had the same or better from a frozen meal! I loved this place 10 years ago. It's sad when I used the bathroom and they have signs to make sure to hold the handle down to flush, graffiti in the bathroom, not clean. The staff was friendly but wearing a dirty shirt and hands that appeared to be dirty then walking out of kitchen was scary. Food quality sucked, won't be back hope I don't get sick!!!
