I am not a typical complaining American. Usually I reserve reviews for high quality praises. Tonight I made a mistake trying an old establishment in carytown. Ordered paneer makani and mixed grill with some naan and salad. Salad was extra large, not Indian salad, therefore a value, although nontraditional.
The mixed grill is appalling at best. Microwaved, reheated meat assortment which smell of their age. I am appalled a restraunt would dare to serve their leftovers from Sunday on a Tuesday. Makani, water but at least hot and edible. Wasted $16.95 for an entree from yesteryear. Will never give them another chance. How are they in business so long? Tourist wandererers never to eat Indian again.

The Lamb Korma here is so good, just the right amount of spice! My only complaint, if I had to be "that person" is that the paper towels in the bathroom had Minions on them and that's just horrifying.

I love this place. The food is great, it's always quiet, the people who work there are friendly. It's a very nice, classy Indian restaurant.

Farouk's is another locally owned restaurant easily reached by walking from my home. The owner and his wife are very friendly and courteous. The food is particularly delicious, and they are always mindful to ask how hot we would like the spices to be, either mild, medium or hot. Usually we go there for dinner, and the food has always been very fresh. If you haven't been there yet, I highly recommend trying it!
