Decent little zoo. Nice selection of animals with an easily traversable layout. I love that you can have an up close encounter with the giraffes (for a $5 additional fee). My only complaints were the parking and the entrance fee. There is no dedicated parking--you have to park on the street or across the street at the park. If you come at a busy time, you'll be forced to park and walk a ways. We had three adults and two children with us and it cost $64 to get in. I would assume that a portion of this is reinvested in the well-being of the animals and the park, but it still seems steep for a park that can be visited in less than two hours.

Sacramento Zoo is a great zoo (compared to all but San Diego 😬). This Zoo has a large area with animals of all kinds and separated reptile rooms (thankfully because not all of us want to see them). Sacramento Zoo has a great kids adventure park right across the street and be sure and tell them when purchasing tickets on either side of the street you get a discount if you attend both parks! Food here is like any tourist place - expensive and not that good but it is what is us. To see all the animals is quite a long walk for elderly and little kids so plan ahead. Good Zoo.

Beautiful place. Lots of animals to see. My boyfriend and I can easily spend all day here. There is so much information about all of the animals as well. Zoo staff is really friendly and they have a nice little cafe to get a bite to eat. Will frequent this zoo more often.

Perfect for breaking up our 10 hour road trip with a 1yr old! Not too big or small. Just enough to see, and you could get pretty close to the animals and birds. They were feeding a giraffe over the rail when we were there! And a great cafe with nice air conditioning.

Great place to take the kids for an hour or two or the whole day. A yearly zoo membership affords the luxury of going to the zoo whenever you would like. Our family has been to the zoo at least ten times in the past year. You can bring a picnic or get a bite to eat in the park. The place is always clean and the staff and volunteers are informative and friendly.
