The best thing about this company was the price. But the desk agent was mildly unpleasant, informing me that, as a local, I had to provide proof of full comprehensive coverage, even though my credit card company has this. This ONLY goes for locals, NOT anyone flying in. Seems totally unfair.
They then were deceptive on the price of gas, claiming $2.98 per gallon, but trying to charge me $38.00 for a 10-gallon tank (small car!). Needless to say, I pointed out the high price of gas ($3.80!) and declined the tank. To rent the car, I had to call my insurance and get unneeded coverage for an extra $70, making the price of this rental car NOT that great. The desk agent was completely unsympathetic, saying I could go around and look for another car if I'd like. RENTER BEWARE!

I travel a lot for work. Compared to other rental car companies, the staff was very helpful. The vehicle was a reasonable price. It was clean and very nice. Ironically, best economy sized vehicle I've ever rented. Highly recommend.

The vast number of my experiences at car rental counters have been unpleasant. That was a really nice way to describe it. Perhaps it's been the same for you? Shane Vidal, the representative at the E-Z Rent-A-Car desk at the San Diego airport made the process extremely smooth. The technology at the customer to employee interface must be improved because the whole transaction took under 3 minutes. Shane also added a personal touch of discussion and chatting that made my day. Best experience in the most unexpected situation.

I'm giving it four stars because the process to check in was so very slow due to only 2 agents and 1 had a customer that would no leave or stop asking questions. I realize that is no fault of the agent's, but it would have been good to have another more experienced agent (maybe supervisor) to show up and help her out. After I finally got to the counter the process was fast and the agent was very friendly.
The only other negative thing is they charge $200 for a deposit that is supposed to be returned after the car is returned. I didn't buy the insurance, so that's their justification for the deposit.

This place is a joke. The staff are rude and the office is unorganized. My encounter with Nick was especially unpleasant. The definition of unprofessional. I mean this guy is a real piece of work. If management is reading this, I would look for an upgrade. They try to up sell because they do not have the cars that you set up with your reservation. Do yourself a favor and avoid the hassle. Use another company
