Old school steakhouse. Good service at bar and table. Properly cooked, quality meat.

I'm not big on red meat. Maybe 2 x a year and only few bites unless Argentina worthy. Alfred's is classy, top-notch food, service, and ambience. Loved my calamari and chicken. My wife's Bry Flannery porterhouse was heavenly. Ditto Junior's Snake River Wagyu-Angus NYer. Great night w/ friends from Khosla thanks to staff and kitchen crew. Dan Patterson is doing it good.

The Porterhouse for 4 was amazing. We loved the sides, sauces, drinks, and service. A great special occasion restaurant.

Well if you don't mind having a 20% charge added to your bill on top of your usual and customary 20% gratuity, you might enjoy this "iconic" steakhouse. However, we found this completely unacceptable and left! California you have totally turned us off from visiting your beautiful state!

A shadow of its former glory. I've been frequenting Alfred's for over a decade. The excellence of their Manhattan's and Old Fashion's was diminished a year ago. Then the management changed hands, the entire staff (which had worked there for decades) left. Recently it was re-opened following a fire. The decor is largely unchanged (bathrooms were overhauled without the classic martini wallpaper). But the service is terrible, the meat isn't nearly as good as it was and not worth its price, several menu favorites are gone. Alfred's is dead to me. If you've never been, you'll find this to be a place that is certainly "above average", but long time patrons will notice that the magnificent "old world" spark that Alfred's maintained is now, officially, burned out.
