Beet salad was pretty good, but broccoli rabe and sausage pasta was seriously undercooked and oversalted. I understand and love Al dente and miss salt when there is not enough, but this was to the extreme for both...

What a huge disappointment. Service was slow and abrupt. Portions were small (I normally eat off a salad plate for portion control). The food was just so so. I'd read these great reviews, and it fell short in every aspect for me.

I am beginning to wonder if A-16 has their employees write reviews. The last couple of times I was there the food was good...but overpriced for a neighborhood restaurant, and the bartender has so much attitude you feel like he's doing you a favor by helping you. Last time I was there I brought my own bottle of wine. A corkage fee is expected...but $30 ...a little over the top. It's more like a penalty fee. All in all ....there are better places in walking distance.

Had a great evening meal here. We arrived quite late and so didn't have any wait. We sat at the chef counter in the rear area of the restaurant. This spot provided us with the ideal place to watch the chefs work. It was fascinating (and we felt exhausted on their behalf!) We had been advised to order the pizza which we did. The pizza was cooked perfectly in the wood fired oven in front of our seats and the ratio of toppings was perfect (many places over-sauce etc). I'd advise to stick to wine to drink though as all of the beers were canned. The wine list is pretty good and offers bottles over a wide price range, so ordering from there is no hardship.
