Always a must visit spot! Great food choices and plenty of retail therapy shops. The beautiful merry go round is an excellent picture spot for our kids. Really enjoy the specialty gift shops from unique socks to one of a kind Xmas ornaments! But wait that's not all!!! Take a stroll to the end of Pier 39 and you'll find a breathtaking view of San Francisco bay!

So many activities to do here but anything that involves money is usually expensive. That said, there are some reasonably-priced food off the main street and it’s always free to hang around, admire scenic views of the bay, and do people watching. Always a great idea to check the weather forecast and bring layers as necessary.

This historic pier has been a stop on many of our trips to San Francisco. It seems like the pier is getting busier and busier each time that we visit. It is truly a tourist attraction that brings in millions of dollars in revenue yearly. At the end of the pier there’s quite a great view of the bay and it’s surroundings. On a clear day it’s an excellent place for photography.

On a clear day it’s an excellent place for photography.

This is a fun place to people watch, seal watch, soak up the sun, take a boat excursion, eat a nice meal or just nosh. I visited the aquarium and was mesmerized by the jelly fish and walking through a glass tunnel as the fish swim around you. Instructors are strategically placed to teach,inform and answer questions. Fantastic place to take children of all ages. Be aware, the pier is crowded on the week ends so if you intend to dine ,make reservations.

There are sea lions you can see as they warm in the sun (or often fog) and lots of options to take a boat on the Bay. Lots of places to explore including Aquarium of the Bay and Fisherman's Wharf. Parking is sometimes difficult, so think about taking public transportation. Be careful since so many tourists make for easy pick-pocketing. If you're coming to San Francisco, it is a must see attraction.
