We have been going to Urban Pet Hospital for over a year now. We used to take our 13 year old boxer Sarge there until we had to put him down. During this time, Dr Garg and his team have treated us like family. When it was time to put Sarge down he shut down his office for us and came to our apartment. Although this was a very tough time for both my wife and I, Dr Garg and his team made it easier. Now we have our new puppy Smitty. Even though we've now moved out of the city, we still make the trip in to the Marina to see Dr Garg and team because we couldn't think of having anyone else care for our new pup.

Dr. Garg and his staff are AWESOME! Even with a city wide blackout, they were there to help us with our veterinary needs. We are very happy to have found a dependable source for care.

I would give them 0 stars if that was an option. What started like a nice, neighborhood practice, turned into money making machine in no time. I feel bad because I recommended their practice to my friends. Here is what happened: My 12 year old cat, Nate had to be put down. He had been very sickly since I adopted him(6 years ago) and started going down hill pretty rapidly over the last year. He lost half of his weight and after $600 tests the dr at Urban told us he had serious liver problem. We decided to let Nate live in relative comfort since he was still eating, drinking and being social. I informed the doctor I will be putting him to sleep when he gets worst. He did. I called Monday and scheduled the appointment for 4PM. I told the receptionist it was for putting Nate down. My sad, heart broken, husband arrived with our cat at 4 only to discover tons of people with their pets checking in, out, waiting, calling etc. He had to wait for 40 minutes to be taken to the room. The doctor came over and acted like he did not know why my husband was there. Then he second guessed our decision. It was horrible! If you ever had a chance to euthanize your pet, you know how sad, devastating, emotional, guilt producing that experience is. After few minutes my sick, stressed out, half alive cat was removed from the room to put catheter in " so he will be more comfortable". There was ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO PROLONG HIS MISERY AND PUT CATHETER IN. It was done to escalate the cost of the whole operation. End bill : $500 I did have to put to sleep 2 of my previous cats and 1 quick shot did it all. There was no need for catheter or 3 different drugs. To make the long story short:
The quality of the end of life says volumes of the practice and speaks much louder than vaccinating perfectly healthy, cute puppies. I am so disappointed and angry. I feel the lack of empathy and sensitivity of Urban Pet Hospital is absolutely appalling. I feel my husband was totally taken advantage of and my cat died stressed out and in agony. I will never use those people again for any of my pets.
