Went there with a big group. The Tortilla Soup was good. The grasshopper appetizer was surprisingly good, too. Service was OK.

Mezcal has a good atmosphere with warm glow, low lighting (despite the sports channels playing on the big screen TVs) and just enough people there for it to not be too busy or too empty. The beers were good as were the shrimp and tacos al pastor, but the calamari was extremely salty and the service was disinterested at best.

Very unique atmosphere. Would recommend going there once. They're known for their mole, which was good. But what I had wanted for a meal didn't match what I got. Drinks are good, wish the staff knew more about the mescals.

Some friends and I went here for an early dinner before a show, and we were very disappointed.
The atmosphere: We were seated directly in front of a set of VERY loud speakers where a DJ was playing obnoxious EDM music. If it was 9pm, I could see it but this was 5:30pm. We asked to be re-seated and requested the music be turned down but were told it was not possible by 3 different staff members. (I'm pretty sure all speakers have volume control).
The food: I am generally easy to please when it comes to Mexican food, but this was probably the worst I've had. I ordered a salad and the tortilla soup. The salad was pretty gross -- the lettuce was wilted and it had way too much dressing. The soup was very bland, pretty much tasted like someone just opened a can and threw a few tortilla chips on top.
The service: It felt like our waiter was intentionally trying to ignore us. After taking forever to bring out our drinks we were left several times with empty chips, salsa and drinks and found it nearly impossible to flag him down.
Overall it felt like no one at the restaurant cared about delivering a good customer experience. I will definitely not be coming back.

So I love everything about this place except the service. The atmosphere is vibrant, the decor is beautiful the food is simple authentic and yet very flavorful, they also offer a wide variety of drinks.
But every time I come here the waiters seem like they are about to get off work and want me to hurry up and finish my meal. The only bad thing about the place, unfortunately a pretty large factor of how I feel after eating in a restaurant, is the quality of the wait staff.
