We were happy in most areas with my dad's stay! The most frustrating thing is the phone service! There was SO much static on the line we could not talk to him at all! That really is hard because you want to know how your family is or what they need and they can't hear you! It happened on everyone of our calls, to every person that called!

My 90 yr old mother in law was transferred here from Kaiser yesterday. They did not have a regular room for her so put her in the same room a long term resident has occupied for 5 years that was designed for one person. They said they'd transfer her as soon as possible to a real room. This was her first night and second day from hip surgery. No one responded to her call when she turned her light on and she was forced to walk for one hour to find a restroom. The restroom in her room was blocked.

San Tomas has been the greatest facility for my mom who is now under Hospice Care. Although I am over a thousand miles away, I always felt the staff at San Tomas is the greatest, and feel my mom is getting the best of care. The staff is friendly, always answers questions and if they can't, are quick to find the person who can. From the Doctor on call, to the Social Worker and the Dietitian, they are truly amazing! Never a problem with anyone returning calls. Everyone has truly been compassionate in my family's trying time. Keep up the good work San Tomas, you deserve your 5 star rating. Cathy (Dovlet) Schnoes
