Cozy, inviting place with kind service and delicious dishes with Californian cuisine.

Best restaurant in SB for foodies and true experts at pairing wines with a great list to choose from. My favorite restaurant in town, no question.

Currently my favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara for the past few years. Outstanding menus and preparations with fresh local ingredients. Service is very good, wine list is ok, and the decor is simple but elegant. I've been pleased every time I've eaten here and I'm a pain in the ass to please. Also, the 5 course meal is overwhelming in my opinion. Ok if you are going to share, but too much food for one I think. I've tried the food/wine pairing but I prefer to pick my own wines. Highly Recommended!

This is one of the few restaurants in Santa Barbara serving truly inspired food. We went with friends about a week ago, and I wished we had discovered them years ago.
The decoration is nice and friendly. Nothing fancy, but it feels clean and welcoming. Our waiter was excellent, as was the chef, who stopped by the tables from time to time. The staff, in and out of the kitchen, clearly knows what they are doing.
We started out sharing a charcuterie plate, which was excellent. Some uncommon choices, but that's what made it interesting...and tasty. Of the main courses, I tried the trout, salmon and the skirt steak...all were imaginative and very tasty.
I highly recommend Julienne. It's a welcome exception to the mediocre fare found in many restaurants in Santa Barbara.

My wife and I went for the lauded 2 year anniversary dinner for Julienne. The place was full and I do not understand why. This was a 5 course dinner with paired wine. You never heard of the wines and they were OK --not great. The dinner was really not very good. Potato soup was OK but the salad course was mundane and too salty. The fish course was just plain bad--- salty fishy tasting shellfish in a brown broth--yuk! Get this, the meat course had a fancy name but was pork fat back. It was cooked at high heat which served to smoke up the place and the fans just circulated the smoke. The best part was dessert but they were $8 each and coffee was three bucks. Either the people of SB are just bored and need an excuse to say they have been to the newest campy place or they have no taste buds left. We needed to drink 4 liters of water to dilute the salt. Maybe the daily fare is better but this dinner was a complete bust. I give no stars on food but 2 on ambiance.
