Can a place get five stars on the merits of their tables and chairs alone? Apparently so! This is a good coffee shop in general but as far as a place to read and work it's top notch.

When I'm feeling homesick, Uptown Espresso gives me a taste of home in a city I no longer recognize. Back when Uptown first opened, places like Pacific Desserts and B&O Espresso, the Last Exit and Bauhaus still existed. Now Uptown is a Grande Dame amongst the crowd....a place where you can visit an old school Seattle coffee house. Home of the "Velvet Foam", you will find an excellent espresso drink here. The atmosphere is casual and you can laze away the afternoon reading here.

This is my regular stop on my way to work a few days out of the week. Anyone can make a great cup of coffee with practice. I come here because the staff is always friendly, engaging and appreciative of their customers. See, that's what gets me about these negative reviews... TELL THE BARISTA! It has always been my experience that the staff here has always made things right. As a regular, I would expect the same for you as well, dear reader. Its a pretty great shop, if you ask me.

Good coffee. Nice ambiance. It would be great if they had simple sandwiches or some other light lunch fare. They do have delicious pastries.
