Must Read Before Decision. (Adding section 4 and 5 below due to large amount of individuals requesting for more info).

Needless to say my rating gives the impression of my feeling but I have my reasoning. So if anyone looking for this university, please make sure I am wrong before investing your time and money here.

1> University isn't NEU at all. So if you come with impression of Boston NEU, you are about to get a big surprise, infact university isn't even 10% comparable to Seattle local undergrad university like Bellevue College / Seattle Pacific University (incase, you haven't heard these universities, search them coz you would be glad to be there then here ;)).

2> University is actually a 2 stories building in the heart of downtown Seattle. So feel free to expect what sort of facilities you can expect in it, apart from 2-3 class rooms, and hey no Library / recreations etc.. just to make sure you won't get surprised.

3> Oh yea , teaching staff, are very friendly so much that they have only 3 hours of window (class time), to interact cause, if you are unfortunate like me, you won't get even a mail response to your queries. It is because, 80% (except 1 or may be 2 prof) are part timers. So , fire and forget if you know async calls in codes ;)

4> As most people are asking Co-Op specific question. I was with MSCS and had landed an internship offer with my own effort and university had denied my request to allow for summer Internship and I was forced to inform the organization that I can't work due to this (jeopardizing my own reputation). This is a point when I realized I made wrong choice. I cannot comment for all but I have seen extreme low (maybe in early 2 digits %) landing summer internship in MIS etc courses while the number may be bigger for MSCS guys and most of em are from external sources not through university so called pool.

5> Now with sufficient exposure to other universities, I can say, the quality as well as the amount of knowledge gain, I had is really low for me in here. Their education materials is so outdated (almost useless) that even other equivalent university doesn't recognize it validity and usefulness (So cannot do credit transfer as well). It nearly costed my masters degree plan as there was nothing for me to do. I would say, this place has to open up / be friendly / scale up and think for people which apparently I feel all universities does and stop showcasing their Northeastern tag as no-one will benefit from such a false advertisement.

6> 1 good thing about the university I really appreciate is, it is intended for online courses or working professionals or people who wanna be productive during extra hours and it's NOT a FULL TIME STUDENT place. I cannot emphasize more on this.. So make sure you understand this point very neatly.

Having said that, if any of you are just looking for F1 Visa for US entry, this is a school for you and you can get a lot of support from peoples around, so make sure you understand your goal.

NOTE :- My humble request to all PLEASE DO NOT contact me with further queries. What I had to say, I think I touch all the points above. Your case or career is your decision. I had to suffer over $20k additional debt because of this mistake so I put my experience above to warn others.

I recently graduated from Northeastern University - Seattle, with an MSCS. I was in the first ALIGN cohort for the computer science program, which began in the Fall 2013 semester. The ALIGN program is tailored for individuals with non-CS undergraduate majors. In my case, I was a mechanical engineer with a background in the aerospace industry. The Seattle graduate campus encompasses two buildings in the South Lake Union neighborhood of the city so does not have the traditional large university feel. However, for me, the relatively small size promoted a friendly, almost family atmosphere between the staff and the students, which I really enjoyed. The staff were always incredibly responsive and helpful throughout my time there.

Having been part of the first cohort, I witnessed some initial teething problems with our program and also how the university addressed those problems. Northeastern listened to student feedback and made improvements in every area while I was studying. Those initial issues mainly surrounded transitioning to a greater number of onsite faculty and TAs (i.e. a reduction in the reliance on Boston based resources), and improvements in the scope and focus of the ALIGN foundation courses. At this point, most, if not all classes are taught by an "on-the-ground" faculty member in Seattle. To be clear, this was mostly the case at the start but the situation has only improved. On the other hand, having the Boston campus as a resource benefitted several courses that I took, as there was a lot of mature, well developed material available from existing Boston classes. I should also mention that the breadth of availability of classes is also constantly growing.

The faculty in general are mostly, but not exclusively, professionals from industry (there are also classes taught by full-time faculty) and are typically highly qualified (often PhD) and abreast of current trends. The downside to this, at times, was access to the instructors but they generally put in a major effort to make time for office hours and to help students online. I believe that, as more TAs, become available as the program matures, that issue is easing. The quality of education I received was very high and I'm very satisfied with what I learned.

If the small campus feel is for you, I'd certainly recommend considering Northeastern in Seattle.

Northeastern University-Seattle is the second Graduate campus after the Boston campus.I started pursuing my masters in CS here since Fall'2014 and so far my experience has been enriching and satisfying. Looking forward to be an active part of the growth of this campus and excited for the fun times ahead.
