Spa Mercer

I got the monthly special which consisted of a detox soak, scrub, and massage. Then since it was my birthday I added a facial so I would have a nice day at the spa. The soak was nice, really hot mud bath, although I found a clump of hair floating in it. I then noticed the table that I would be having my scrub on. It reminded me of an autopsy table (google it). After my soak Helen had me get on the table completely exposed except for some paper underwear. Then she rubbed Rain Bath soap all over me and scrubbed me with sandpaper-like gloves (which I am pretty sure were used on the previous patron). After the gloves, she takes a loofah that was hanging on the table and continues to scrub all of my skin off. It hurt! Plus everyone knows loofahs (even your own) are pretty unsanitary after a while. I broke out in a rash immediately after my service so I question their sanitary procedures there. Then comes the massage. IT WASN'T A MASSAGE it was torture! All Helen did was find knots on my back and say "does this hurt?" and press really hard on them. No rubbing just pressing! The only thing that earned them 1 star was the facial. It was actually pretty decent. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Unless you want scabies...

Sunny gives absolutely amazing massages, as does Hellen. Sunny has helped me with my torn up shoulder/neck muscles (I used to play tennis). She helped it relax for the first time in a couple years and it actually felt good, and I wasn't in pain. Hellen does an amazing acupressure massage. It's nothing like you've ever had before. It really is a different experience. I highly recommend these ladies, and I recommend that you try this spa.

I wish I could take away the one star I gave the spa. The only thing good about my experiance there, was the receptionist and the technician who did my body scrub. The massages were horrible. i went with 2 girlfriends, and all of us had a bad massage experiance. My therpaist just put a bunch of lotin on her hands and rubbed it on my back, that was it. I could have done that to myself! My girlfriend got a "skin wrap", which she described as being in hell. She said they put two heating pads on her and then left for 30 minutes. To top it all of, originally they gave my friend whose birthday was that month 15 dollars off her package. Later that night, the receptionist called and said she would have to charge a credit card that 15 dollars because she wasn't supposed to give us the "birthday discount". I agreed to them taking the extra 15, because I figured they most need it more than I do.
I will NEVER go back to Spa Mercer, and suggest that you don't either if you want your monies worth AND an enjoyable experiance.

What a unexpected delight to stumble on this great spa. Tired and tense from a long day I decided to drop in to Spa Mercer and was amazed at the massage I received - best ever, by an experienced and personable professional who had a second sense for where the tension was greatest and how to relieve it, and at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend the experience and have made Spa Mercer an integral part of my routine to combat daily stress.
