Taxi cabs take they're sweet time to get to you. They don't care if you're in a hurry or not because they definitely are not in a hurry to provide good service no matter what company. Most cab drivers don't speak English they may know yes or no.

Taxi Commission is a joke. An outdated organization that attempts to minimize competition by strong-arming more convenient alternatives such as Uber and Lyft out of the city. The saying is "adapt or die," and an organization that refuses to compete by actually enhancing its use of technology and legitimately competing deserves to go off on the wayside. They are delaying the inevitable and will be irrelevant within the next 5 years.

I was in a cab in St. Louis in 2013. The cab driver had no insurance. He was texting, blew through a red light and our cab was hit by a van. I was hospitalized for six months, almost died and now have life long health problems.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Taxi Commission is run by corrupt political appointees who, in the two years since my accident have denied ever knowing about it despite legal documents provided in court showing they are lying. Their Board Chair, Lou hamilton, is a corrupt lobbyist that pays off politicians to make sure the taxi companies in St. Louis don't pay the people they hurt- Harris Cab has 18 years of judgements against by a long list of people hurt int heir dangerous cabs yet no one on the Metro Taxi Commission has lifted a finger to punish them.
The Vice Chair of the St. Louis Metro Taxi Commission is Dave McNutt- he also owns Laclede Cab and is a violent, deranged person who has hired a convicted child rapist to be the point of contact for St. Louis schools that need to shuttle kids from underperforming schools to better ones. His excuse for this is, "He doesn't drive the kids"
If you visit St. Louis, use Uber and avoid Taxi cabs. You have no guarantee you will be in an insured cab and if you should happen to get hurt in one, the Lou hamilton and Dve McNutt will do everything in their power to make sure no one is brought to justice
