I had LASIK here in June 2013. I had the more expensive procedure where they map out your eyes for better results. had been unable to see an "E" on the top of an eye chart since I was a young kid, had astigmatism in my left eye, and have been wearing almost exclusively contacts for about 15 years as glasses give me headaches nearly every day. My prescription is so bad that even the high index "thin" lenses were heavy.
Everyone here was very nice. The experience was easy and thoroughly explained to me. My post-op appointments were all set up with my local office so that I don't have to drive. (and the payment is inclusive also. I don't pay my local office - they bill Gentsler Eye Center.)
The only thing that was "painful" about the procedure was when the machine kind of suctions to your eye. They said I would feel pressure, but it didn't feel like pressure, it hurt. (maybe a 4 on a 1-10 scale and it was only a few seconds.)
My vision now is great. Occasionally I still try to take out my contacts, which is a humorous experience when I realize what I'm doing. My eyes are more sensitive to light outside now, but a $10 pair of sunglasses was a simple solution and was something I should have been doing already. I do find that my eyes dry out more easily than before, but slowly they're getting back to normal and I don't have to use drops every day.
The only part I really disliked was the cost and the fact that it took me several years to be able to afford it. Your eyes are very worth it, though. If I started adding up how much money I have spent on glasses/contacts since I was a kid it really became a solid investment for my future, and it was much healthier than leaving my contacts in for too long which was damaging my eyes a little.
If you're considering LASIK this is a great place to go. Some insurances will discount the procedure even if they won't pay for it. I've been to a few different countries, and traveled around the US a decent amount. Honestly, I wish I would have spent the money sooner. I have great memories of those trips, but in the long run my vision was more worth the money.
