Our family has 2 generations of birth center babies, for a total of 6 amazing birth experiences. I had to have my first child at the hospital because he was premature. I had my second at the birth center. The two experiences couldn't be more different. At the hospital I felt like I had no control. My first nurse was downright mean and bossy and didn't seem to care about me at all. My midwife from the birth center came to the hospital to support me during my labor and I am eternally grateful to her. She guided and supported me throughout my entire labor.
My son was taken away from me immediately, even though he was completely stable and breathing well on his own. I only got to hold him for a few moments. My midwife went down to the NICU to advocate for me and my son and convinced them to let me have my baby, rather than leaving him in a bed in the NICU by himself.
Delivering at the birth center was a wonderful experience. The staff were all so kind and compassionate. They were completely focused on me and what I needed. My labor was fast and intense. I didn't have time to talk in between contractions but they were so attentive that they seemed to know what I needed without me asking. I felt completely in charge the entire time. No one yelled at me to get back in the bed, I was free to move around in any crazy position I wanted. They handed me my daughter immediately and didn't take her away from me once. I will be forever grateful to the staff at the birth center for their care and compassion.

The Birth and Woman's Center gives mothers and babies the best of care. Professional and experienced, respecting your wishes and not pushing stuff on you that you don't want. I don't believe you could do better.

Absolutely love the place. Knowledgeable and experienced staff understand childbirth as a natural process, give you classes and insight and help to guide you through it. I've had three children there. They are also directly across from 2 hospitals and have a working relationship with them so there is a peace of mind in case of an emergency.
