Mavrick is nothing good! Plays all this new hiphop country, and the bads are not that great, staff is awesome they work hard but the dancing and music does not measure up to the true meaning of country honky tonk bar!

When they have a live band or not it's so much fun to dance here! Everyone is friendly and you can ask people to teach you to dance.

Hated it . Some of my friends and i went there on dance lesson night. the establishment and the teachers seem to do everything in their power to make you feel pathetic ,while we were just there to have fun. The bouncer was also an annoying twerp. he was bugging my friend for something stupid , then he started harassing me.
i wont be coming back here if they are going to treat us like that

So we were visiting from the Dallas/Fort Worth area and decided to try and come out dancing for an evening. I found two different places to go and this one had better reviews so we tried it. For starters the bar was nice and our waitress was awesome! The band that played was also very good. Everyone here seemed to be having a good time. The negatives to our visit are as follows: 1. It stormed tonight yet they kept the front doors wide open in July and it was sweltering inside, especially if you were dancing. 2. This dance floor is kinda small. Much smaller than what we are used to dancing on. 3. They had some sort of benefit going on to save horses (that may have accounted for the crowded conditions) However, I spoke to another couple and they say it's normally busy on Thursdays and packed on Friday and Saturday. Glad we came on Thursday, if this was a"slower" night. 4. This is probably the most important. If you are used to being able to dance around a dance floor in line of dance with people slot dancing in the middle (as it should be) they do NOT do that here. There is no line of dance, everyone just kinda dances in place all over the dance floor. Then you have the crazy few who spin their partner all over with no regard to who is around, elbows flying everywhere! (To be fair you will run into this one at almost any dance hall). As the evening got a little later and it thinned out a bit, it was better. I think there is just a completely different style of dance between Texas and Arizona. If y'all come visit us in Dallas/Fort Worth you will need to stay to the middle of the dance floor, leaving the outside lane open for those who don't two step in place. If we are in the area again, I'm not sure if we would come back, we might, or we might try the other bar out.

This place is awesome. Great food, cold beer, and live country music. If that isn't your style, then this isn't your bar. The service is the best I've seen in years of frequenting dive bars, but don't come in expecting craft cocktails. It's simple and it does what it does better than anyone else.
