I have used Texas Spine and Joint and in particular Dr. Blau there since 2009. When I first started going there I felt the compassion from the staff and doctor went above and beyond anything in this area;however, since the new additions have been built on it seems the focus has switched from patient-centered to financial-centered. After my last visit even with insurance, for a regular dr. visit I was billed over $1100 for a urinalysis. They preceedes to tell me it is because they have a two-step process and it was over $300 for the first step and over $800 for the second step. Now what I would like to know ( since I was not on any narcotics) why after the first clean dip and results in the office why they would then send it off for an additional cost of $800. These were UNNECESSARILY charged expenses and fraudulent billing in my opinion. Before seeing a doctor there I would suggest getting a cost report and breakdown of services prior to using them. They are the epitome of what is wrong with our healthcare system. I will no longer be using them.

The admission clerks were really nice. They were really information towards my son while he was waiting for my procedure to be done. They were very informative to me in what was going to be done.. Very nice place and clean faculty..

Excellent experience!!! Every staff member I dealt with was so nice and helpful!! Nurses were awesome, very thorough and obviously knew their job and all support staff right down to the custodian were super friendly and just great!!! The hospital was clean and up to date and the room was not large but a decent size and nice. The hospital food here was absolutely wonderful!!!! I was so surprised at the how good my western omelette was!!! I really have nothing but good to things to say about my entire experience from pre-op to finish!!! Love love love Dr. Russell and his crew!!!! Thanks to all and God bless!!!

I can't give a five star although I do believe this is the best hospital in Tyler. The care I received was great. Pre-op and surgery went well. It was once I was in the room that issues started.
The room had no air conditioning and the nurses stated that this was normal. They work in these conditions all of the time.
Also, the room I was in was down the hall from the MRI machine. From 8 to 5 each day all you would hear is the horrible noises of the MRI. I had to get ear plugs just to get some rest.
Overall, great hospital, however the layout of the building and the A/C not working not great.
