Exceptional mansion in Tyler, TX. Free admission, but please leave a donation. Worth the time to take the tour. The gardens there are very nice, too.

This is an excellent history museum run by enthusiastic volunteers, and admission is donation based. Our volunteer guide was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the house, and we deeply enjoyed immersing ourselves in a world 150 years old when there was no internet or electricity or other modern distractions. It was interesting seeing life through the eyes of the Goodman family - their joys and sorrows.
