Bourbon bar? Pizza Bar? Upscale Restaurant? How about all of the above?
The first thing to strike you about this place is the look. As you walk in the space has the feel of an old bourbon warehouse turned local bar. Its small but feels spacious thanks to the effective use of space near the bar and windows.
The menu selections keep locals and people outside of the area coming back. I say this only because I receive texts from friends when I'm out of town asking about the name of the place when a craving for particular Marble and Rye menu items strike them.
The service is good but not necessarily what will bring you back. This is typically due more to staffing than to a lack of effort on the part of the wait-staff. For example, an unexpectedly busy happy hour can leave the bartender with more than any one person should have to handle.
When it comes to the bourbon selection any drinker will be pleased without being overawed. While the options available falls far short of Capitol Hill's Barrel, it is more than sufficient to sate the needs of all but the most discerning Kentucky Libation Needs.
Overall, this place is a treasure worth finding again and again!

They barely get customers yet their Happy hour food is only available at the bar or "community tables". With a 5 year old neither of these are an option as VA state law prohibits minors at the bar and the community tables are high top. When asked management why, he stated that's what the chef required.
You would think they would make more effort to increase business but I guess they don't want to. With the potential for repeat customers from the neighborhood not a good business model, but maybe empty tables is what they prefer.
Draft beer selection is good, food is ok, but neither is great. Was better when it was Red rocks.

This was my first time visiting for brunch. There were good menu options and waitstaff was very attentive, our bottomless were never empty. The chicken and waffles was on point!

I wasn't sure what to expect of this place since I hadn't ever heard anything about it, but was actually pretty impressed. We got wings, a hummus plate, and brussel sprouts. I would recommend all of them. We went on a weekend early in the day (lunch time) and it was not crowded at all.
