I've read these 1 and 2 reviews and frankly I don't understand them other than to say that each of us has different expectations. Someone who goes to a facility numerous times with a good experience and then writes about the bad one is in the right but I would hope they'd left the good reviews. Most people only leave bad ones. Those who found the environment less than their liking, must have wanted more time at the facility with a lot of TLC and hand holding. For me, I wanted a great doctor (Dr. Thomas), anesthesiologist, nursing care, and staff who were friendly, competent, and able to get me processed through surgery and on my way home as quickly as possible. I had lumbar surgery for a herniated disk yesterday and I cannot say enough good things about all of these folks at Surgcare. They exceeded my expectations and I would not hesitate to recommend this center to anyone who wants the same things that I wanted. Someone who wants to be wined and dined, should visit a relative but unless he/she is a surgeon, they might not get the best medical care. Take your pick.

I would not recommend this center at all. First, my sister's minor reconstruction eye surgery cost $12000. Second, we waited for 3 hours before my sister was ever called back for them to get her ready for surgery. Third, they were an hour late getting her back. Fourth, patient family kept going to get coffee from the waiting room table and it was empty. My sister asked them if they could make a pot. They never did. Instead, another patient family member asked them to make some an hour and a half later only to have them respond that they don't make coffee in the afternoon. So, a gentleman who came in around 2 pm was polite enough to make us a cup of coffee. He was the most pleasant & professional of all the staff. My sister kindly asked one of the staff who brings patients out after surgery how long the center stay a open. She rudely replied "we close after after the last patient is seen, whenever that is" as she was walking away & closing the door in our faces Then she let another patient out she looked at my sister & rolled her eyes. She's really been rude & loud most of the day. These people need an attitude adjustment. We are all paying customers & should be treated with dignity & respect.

Two stars is really generous. The first sign that this would be problematic was the call indicating the scheduled surgery would be performed on the wrong hand and finger. Although clarified on that call, upon check-in, the wrong hand and finger were still listed. My second frustration occurred when I received a call the morning of the surgery asking me to come in earlier that morning since the physician was running ahead of schedule. So I made arrangements and arrived earlier, at 10:45a.m., only to have to wait until almost 3:00p.m. for the walk to the operating room (more than 4 hours). A wait of this length is sincerely unacceptable especially in light of the fact that the physician was not involved with any medical emergencies. The final straw was when the staff wrapped my hand so tight, that within 48 hours I had to return to the surgeon's office to have my hand re-wrapped so that circulation could return to my injured parts and my numbness could be relieved. Based upon this experience, I would strongly recommend against scheduling any procedures at Wilmington Surgcare. More of a factory than a medical facility. Given another option, I encourage you to choose it.

I have been to SurgCare several times in the past 20 years and never really had any complaints. However, my husband had surgery there today and I was very turned off by staff and their lack of communication.
First of all, I am 38 weeks pregnant, and on my way to the restroom, the front desk gal asked me how I was feeling, if the baby was healthy, and -get this- if the baby "had all of its limbs." I was shocked by such a bizarre and personal question.
Secondly, we were scheduled to be there at 11am, but received a call from SurgCare earlier this morning to come in early - that they could go ahead and get us in. We got there around 9:30am, got our forms and insurance paperwork filled out, and they took my husband back for prep. 30+ minutes later, he walked back out into the lobby. They had gone ahead and gotten him dressed out, and then "forgot" about him and once he asked what was going on, someone told him he could either leave and come back, or wait in the lobby for 4 hours. So, we ended up waiting until our initial appointment at 11, and two and a half hours later they finally took him back. The "nurse" that came to get him from prep must have been having a bad day, as her manners were horrible and she was extremely rude to both me and my husband.
I am very dissatisfied with how we were treated today, and will never be inclined to recommend Wilmington SurgCare to anyone again.
