Very attentive service, great food, and a nice selection of wines. The fruit and cheese was fresh and the filet mignon was cooked right. Only complaint would be the fact the restroom is ten degrees hotter than the restaurant. But overall a very nice price for amazing food and service. Parking in the rear is free.

The flounder was perfect! The spinach was perfect! The salad was perfect! Need I say more? Did server check on us often. ....not so much, but I came for the FOOD, OK? !

Some friend's and I came for a Saturday Brunch and it was quite delicious. I got two eggs lightly scrambled with bacon and their house made biscuit and it was rather enjoyable. It was a little slow but it's expected as The Basics is a well frequented by Wilmington's locals as well as tourists. All in all you will enjoy your meal whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Had a chance to visit here on the fourth of July, while many of the downtown restaurants were crowded with long waits, The Basics was not. We had a very enjoyable meal and awesome dessert. The Shrimp and Grits was very good with a Cajun inspired sauce that knocked it out of the park. The Coca-cola cake was a wonderful end to very nice meal. We will return.
