Very disappointed in the George Restaurant in many ways. Had an event for twenty people. For many of us the food was cold. Did not get a chance to check with everyone but the ones I did speak with the food certainly did not meet expectations. Had previously spoken with Brett and Matt prior to the event more than once and asked that the bill be handled in a certain manner and they reassured me it would be. However, IT WAS NOT. I approached the manager on duty (Brett or Matt) not sure which one it was, and he acted as if he could care less. Never apologized once. We were told the cake we provide would be served. It was not. Had to ask for forks to eat dessert with once we served the cake ourselves. Forks were only placed on one table and there were two large tables of guest. Yes small details matter. Will we return to the George, NO. Will we recommend the George, NO.

This place has one of the best views downtown. The food was good in the past. I'm not sure about now. The last time I went there and ate crab cakes and asparagus, something had changed.

Ate lunch at the George restaurant today. Had a bowl of the chowder, it was very good (a little pricey at $7) Wife had the shrimp and grits, she liked it( again a little pricey at $17 a bowl). I had the salmon blt which was very good and the mixed veggies were very good as well. Spent $40 for 2 on lunch. Nice view from the outside patio. I would go back again.

We came to The George because of the location. We came early to be seated on the deck for dinner, and it was beautiful. Our waiter, however, was less than attentive and we often felt the answers to our questions were not truthful. Midway through the meal, we still didn't have our bread, but when we asked him, he said he was waiting for the fresh to come out of the oven. Then he didn't return to our table for the rest of the meal. Someone else took of our dirty dishes while we waited & waited for our bill. When he finally came, he didn't thank us, just lasted it on the table. Upon asking about the bread, which we never got, he said it never got done. But other tables around us had bread. He was rude, and there was no sense of appreciation, courtesy, or hospitality. Would we go back? The view is 5 star; the food maybe 2 star; the service less than 1 star. We'd only return for iced tea at sunset, but never for a meal.

Been here twice now and both times were good. It's definitely one of the pricier places in the river, but the quality is there. Tonight I had the Restaurant Week 2017 special meal of Salmon Cakes, Crab Corn Chowder, and Shrimp and Grits. The salmon cakes were excellent, the chowder was on point, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly but grits were a little runny for my taste. Everyone else at my table loved their meals as well. We will be back.
