I'd highly recommend this facility for any eye work when in Hanoi...

I'm from the USA. In Hanoi I was having "night" light flashes and wanted to get my eyes checked. (this same problem happened to me a few years back when I was in the Philippines and laser surgery was needed to fix it.)

I chose the Japan International Eye Hospital...next to Truc Bach Lake. The professional and personal care there was "excellent". From the moment I walked in I was assigned a staff member who never left my side (nurse)...until I paid and left the building. Her English was great and her attention to my questions and needs were excellent.

She performed some exams and other staff members performed the ones they were trained for. For $49.00 US here's what I got...

- Personal interview with the Dr first (lasted about 10 minutes to determine why I sought care...)
- Exam to check my vision limits using the "E" letters.
- An eye pressure check exam.
- An ultra-sound of both eyes to see if I had a detached retina
- Dilation of both eyes.
- An examine where they checked my peripheral vision...at the same time took pictures of my inner eye.
- All of these results from the exams were then sent to the Dr.'s computer.
- A final physical examine with the Dr. (about 20 min...)

My Dr was Bui Tien Hung..I believe he was assigned to me because he spoke English well.

Luckily what I had was not serious. I was able to pay by AmEx...but I believe they also take Visa and MC.

This place is great and the service was amazing. Better than any care I would have gotten in my own country.
