Many shoals in Lake Ontario are now exposed by record low levels in 2012. Note the 2 m. tall green buoy to the far left of the wave. This shoal is between Salmon Island and the Brothers Islands. They have damaged and sunk many boats and ships over the years. On November 10 1812, the unarmed Canadian ship "Simcoe" was attacked by the American "Hamilton" and it received serious damage below the water line.
