This bridge was built as the Grand Trunk Railway from Montreal to Toronto, passing through Kingston in 1856, reaching here a year later. It was double tracked in 1890, went bankrupt in 1923 and became part of Canadian National Railway. It is one of the heaviest traveled lines in Canada.
