Goggans General Store, Goggans, Georgia. Goggans was named for the family of John F. Goggans. He donated the land for the railroad station, general store, where the post office was located, and access land to the Union Primitive Baptist Church. At different times, the town was also known as Goggins, Goggans Station, and Goggansville. John F. Goggans and his wife, Rebecca, founded Goggans in 1834 and lived there until their deaths. Crossing Tobler Creek ~ Since it was an East to West line, many creeks were crossed. The M & B involved over 70 individual trestles. It ran from December of 1888 to November of 1922. Peaches and cotton were the main commodities hauled, and it was strictly a seasonal operation.

The Barnesville Mural. Located across from the depot in Barnesville, this mural portrays scenes from the past, including a visit from president Roosevelt.
