Ontario's first woman settler, Madeleine D'Allonne, built her house here in 1681, over 430 years ago. Now that is history. See the historic plaque by the bridge on Bath Road.
Scottish style fence made with granite hard head rocks. Granite hard heads were transported here from about 100 km. to the north, by the glaciers in the last ice age, the cap stones are local limestone. This fence is about 160 years old, and it was built without any mortar.
Historic mile stone from 1837 along highway #2. On one side it says K IX, meaning Kingston is 9 miles east, on the other side it says N XIV meaning Napanee is 14 miles west. Horse drawn wagons did not have odometers in 1837. These were very important stones. Most are missing now.
Original Milestone along highway # 2 dated 1837. On one side, just visible is K V, meaning Kingston is 5 miles east. On the other side is N XVIII meaning Napanee is 18 miles west. The road had a crushed rock surface to control mud, a first in Ontario.
Historic mile stone. On one side it says K VIII meaning it's 8 miles east to Kingston, and on the other side it says N XV meaning it's 15 miles west to Napanee. Dated 1837. The road had a crushed rock surface to control mud, a first in Ontario.
